    Default OUTLOOK help needed

I work from Microsoft Outlook. I am currently in the US (from South Africa) and cannot send email from Outlook. I can receive OK but not send. I had the same problem in the UK and eventually had to use someone elses account. The problem seems to be with the outgoing mail server currently set as smtp.iafrica.com. Incoming mail server is set at pop3.iafrica.com which is fine. Can anyone help please, I am desperate to get this fixed.

    Default MS Outlook Help Needed

I found these settings for iafrica.com:

    Incoming Mail Settings: pop3.iafrica.com
    Outgoing Mail Settings: smtp.iafrica.com

Also, can you let us know which port you are using ?

By the way, thanks for visiting our Forums.

    Cheers

    Default Microsoft Outlook Solution

    Same info I found.

Alternatively, I think you can use this web login to access your mail - MWEB Message Centre

Trying to find other settings for you now.

It looks like those are the right settings: http://www.mweb.co.za/helpcentre/Ema...erDetails.aspx

Perhaps there is a setting in your iafrica.com mailbox settings where you have to "Enable POP for all mail" (like you do with gmail) ??

Thanks, I have tried these suggestions previously. In outlook under 'account settings' I've tried all possible options of switching something on or off but nothing works. I don't understand why I can receive mail on the pop3.iafrica.com server without any problems but cannot send on the smtp.iafrica.com server. Unfortunately I have to use Outlook for my work.

    Hi Tracey,

Have you ever logged in to the web interface - http://mc2.mweb.co.za ?

I'm curious if there are any particular settings in there that allow sending / recieving for your email account.

    Cheers

Yes, I tried using the mweb message centre until I can sort out my sending and receiving in Outlook but it's VERY slow and frustrating. I cannot see any setting (don't know where to look) that can help me.

smtp.iafrica.com is my normal setting. I tried your smtp.uunet.co.za, still nothing. Error message reads:
"Send test e-mail message: Cannot find the e-mail server. Verify the server information in your account properties."

    Thumbs up

    Hi Tracey,

Have you tried contacting support to troubleshoot ?

    http://www.iafrica.com/about/feedbac...ction-problems

    Email/Connection problems

If you have problems with your internet connection or email address or wish to open an email account, you need to contact MWEB, who is your internet service provider. If your email address ends on an "@iafrica.com", you also need to contact MWEB for all queries.

iafrica.com is a separate website and does not provide nor manage any ISP or email services.

    You can contact MWEB on 0860 11 22 52.

    Also found these details, http://www.mweb.co.za/helpcentre/Con...0/Default.aspx

Thanks I will try them but they generally take days to reply to queries plus I phoned them before leaving SA and asked them about this as I knew the problem was coming and they could not help me. They said I must find out from the people I stay with what they use. Unfortunately they all use hotmail or gmail, no one seems to use outlook these days so no help there.

    Hi Tracey,

This is the mail we received back from Technical support over at mweb - "TechnicalMail@mweb.com"

The sending of e-mails (outgoing mail server - SMTP) is dependent on the Network/ISP that your are using to connect. If you are not connecting to MWEB directly but via a Network or another ISP while overseas, please change the outgoing mail server (SMTP) of the MWEB account to the one as used by such an ISP/network.

Alternatively, you can try to use the following SMTP server for a possible solution:

    smtpauth.mweb.co.za

We have also implemented authentication on that Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server for security purposes so you will need to have "My server require authentication" within the Outgoing Mail settings enabled in order to send e-mail successfully.

If this SMTP does not resolve your problem, I suggest to contact the Service Provider/Network that you connecting to for the correct SMTP server.

    Cheers

Thanks to everyone on TechieGurus who provided input and ideas on how to resolve my problem. I finally figured it out, had to download software that linked outlook with my gmail address. Working fine now. Thanks again. Regards
