Actually, this could be a good sticky thread. Every opinion on the best antivirus/antispyware software seems to vary based on who you talk to and what you're factoring into the equation. All-in-all, I'd put ESET software near the top based on past experience. Nod32 runs smoothly on my rig and does a damn good job at keeping up to date and not being too intrusive.

As for the best malware removal tools, what Paul posted are pretty good choices, MalwareBytes is definitely a consistent forerunner in that category.
