Thumbs up Canon PowerShot D10 Review

I was away in the Bahamas early April and found myself in need of a waterproof camera to use when not using my SLR. I took a ride in to town and picked up the Powershot D10 and I love it !

Unlike some waterproof cameras out there, Canon integrated a certain level of toughness and rigidity into its D10. Designed to be waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof, lives up to the hype.

    Nice Features:
    1. One of the amazing features of this camera is the "extended layer" which makes it waterproof up to 33 feet and shockproof up to 4 feet.
    2. It features a DIGIC 4 image processor which has evolved a very fine face detection technology that tracks the faces of even the moving objects.
    3. This camera carries 12.1 megapixels for the fantastic resolution and editing is also enhanced with this camera.
    4. There is also a blink detection technology that detects the blink movement by the subject and reduces that action.
    5. It also features optical image stabilization technology which maintains the brightness and contrast of any image and also helps in reducing noise from any photograph.
    6. It's not too bulky and is pretty light (for carrying).

As a primary camera, the Canon Powershot D10 will definitely suffice. Compared to most cameras it's shaped a bit oddly, but is still rather small.

Battery life has proven to be acceptable and high discharge replacements are available. We have been able to squeeze out around an hour of video along with a several hundred snapshots before the battery warning indicator comes on.

Image quality is pretty good, especially when evaluating this type of camera and that you consider that this is an designed for underwater use. Canon loaded this shooter up with some of its more advanced features (DIGIC 4 processor, optical image stabilization and face detection), and in most cases, you’d never be able to tell that you were shooting with a made-for-water camera.

She's got 90 days to try out the Sony she baught, but trying to convince her to return it for something more durable like this -- that way we can bring it to the beach etc, drop the sucker...Whatever!

Nice. We were using ours around the pool, beach, off and on jet skis (took some awesome videos of that) - the thing is definitely very durable !
