Default The Power of Not Getting Overwhelmed

Your work can feel like a tremendous weight on your shoulders: Emails piling up, people calling or stopping by your desk, feeling the pressure of project deadlines, etc. Multitasking is a must, but you can’t let it derail your focus on the activity you are presently doing. If you are rushing through a task to get to the next, that will cause errors and poor output. Employ these rules when faced with an over-consumption of work:

Employ a ranking system: Start ranking your tasks on a scale from one to ten. Rate the importance of each one of your tasks. This may simply be jotting the major tasks, emails, etc. on a piece of paper, but list and rank them. It will become quite clear what needs to get done first and what can be delayed.
Stay focused: When you are working on a task, make sure you are putting in 100%. Nothing looks worse than a worker giving the bare minimum. Like a top-notch steak, your audience will wait (to an extent) for pure excellence.
Set expectations: If your audience is expecting a deliverable on a certain day or time, and you know you can’t make it, let them know. Work with your audience to set achievable expectations.
Be Resourceful: If you can’t get something done, can someone else on your team do it?

Well put, I always prioritize my tasks, and it helps me out immensely as by nature I procrastinate to begin with, by setting goals and deadlines and importance I accomplish what needs to be accomplished!

    Great food for thought!
